Why we build before you pay

Paolo Arroyo ·

Most web projects start the same way. You talk to someone, you get a proposal, and you pay a down payment before you’ve seen a single page. Then you wait and hope.

We don’t work like that. We build first, you check it, and you pay when your business is live and you’re happy with it. No down payment. Our short version is: we build now, you pay later.

People sometimes ask what the catch is. This post is our honest answer.

The risk you take when you pay upfront

For a small business, a website or online store is a real expense. The money usually comes from the same place as rent, stock and salaries.

When you pay upfront, you carry almost all the risk. You’re paying for a promise. If the result doesn’t look like what you pictured, you’ve already spent the money. If the project drags on, you’ve already spent the money. If the person you hired stops replying, you’ve already spent the money.

It makes people careful, and it should. But it also means good businesses put off getting online, because the first step feels like a gamble.

We think you should see what you’re paying for before you pay for it. So we changed the order.

How the free preview and pay-at-launch work

It starts with a message. Send us your business name or page link and what you need, or book a quick 15-minute call. No pitch, no pressure.

Free preview, in 1–3 days. We build a working first version of your site, store or system from the brand info you send. It’s free, and there’s no obligation. If it’s not for you, that’s the end of it. You owe nothing.

Brief and fixed quote. If you like where it’s going, we send a short written brief and one fixed price. You reply “go.” Still no down payment.

We build. About a week for a website, up to two weeks for an online store. We build it on your real content. You don’t pay anything yet.

Live review and revisions. You get a private link to the finished build. Check it on your phone, click everything, and tell us what to change. We turn each round of changes around in 1–2 days, as many rounds as it takes within the agreed brief.

Pay and launch. When you’re happy, you pay the agreed price. That’s the first and only payment for the build. Then we connect your domain and go live.

If the finished site doesn’t match what we agreed, we fix it. If you still walk away, you owe nothing.

What stops the scope from growing

A fair question: if you don’t pay until the end, what stops a project from growing forever? “Can you also add this?” is easy to say when nothing has been paid yet.

The answer is the written brief.

Before we build, we write down what we’re making: the pages, the features, the forms, the payments, whatever the project needs. The fixed price is for that brief. Revisions are unlimited within it, so you can change wording, photos, colors and layout until it feels right.

If something new comes up that’s outside the brief, like an extra page or a new feature, we talk about it openly. We can quote it separately or leave it for later. Nothing gets added to your bill quietly.

The brief protects both sides: you know what you’re getting, and we know what we’re building.

Why it works for us too

We’d be lying if we said this model is pure generosity. It works for us too.

It makes us do good work. When you only get paid for something the client is happy with, there’s no room to coast. That’s a healthy pressure, and we like it.

The preview does the selling. We’d rather show than pitch. A working preview says more than any proposal we could write. If you like it, the conversation gets easy. If you don’t, we’ve both found out early and cheaply.

Clear briefs mean fewer headaches. Projects go wrong when nobody wrote down what “done” means. Our model forces us to write it down every time.

Maintenance keeps us together. After launch, you can keep your site on maintenance, from ₱3,500 a month. That covers hosting, domain, backups, monitoring and fixes. It’s how we earn over time, by keeping your site running well. You can cancel anytime, and we’ll transfer everything to your name. So we have every reason to keep you happy, not just on launch day.

There is still some risk on our side. Sometimes a business sees the preview and decides not to go ahead. That’s fine. We’d rather lose a few hours on a preview than start a project on the wrong foot.

If you’ve been putting off a website, a store or a better system because paying upfront felt like a gamble, this is the way around it. Send us a message and we’ll build you a free preview in 1–3 days. Or book a free call if you’d like to talk it through first.
